Elephant ---- (WIP) by JCee911
Elephant ---- (WIP)
I decided to do an elephant. My wife's favorite animal is this big gentle creature. Since she gave me my new art desk for christmas it is only right that I do something for the woman I love. I found the original picture off of google. I used a HB, 2B and 4B graphite with tortillians for blending. I also used my new HP printer to scan it and used the HP app off my ipad. The app works really well. Thanks for stopping by.
Finally I have my own area!! by JCee911
Finally I have my own area!!
My wife suprised me this year with an art table for Christmas. Needless to say I was excited. The table is made by Soho Urban Artists and it was ordered at It stores a decent amount of my supplies. I am going to put an artbin of somesort to the right of the table for more storage. Now that I have my own little area I am hoping I can start back up again. Here is to a better art year for 2015.
Every Rose has its..... by JCee911
Every Rose has its.....
Started this about a week or two ago. Went online and looked at some types of style of scrolling and filigree. I played around with it and this is what I came up. I need to practice the filigree and/or scrolling, kinda rushed it towards the end cause I just wanted to finish it.

Did this in my Canson Sketchbook with H, HB, 2B and 4B graphite. Used tissues, torts and qtips for blending. Also used mech eraser to clean up in and out, used Micron .1, .3 and. .5 for filigree.

Thanks for stopping by to check it out.
Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) ---- (WIP 4) by JCee911
Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) ---- (WIP 4)
I have been wanting to do one of these Los Muertos drawings and I always wanted to do some type of stencil for a tattoo. The image is from a stock model on shutterstock. They have a lot of those models all dressed up in the Day of the Dead (Dìa de los Muertos) costumes and make-up. It is a very cool look. Seeing these things as tattoos is even better.

I am doing this on Mixed Media 9x12 with .3 and .5 HB mechanical and Prismacolor ink .05 and .005 so far.

WIP - 4 I started to color her up. I watched about six tuts on youtube on how to blend Prismas. It actually looks ok , the picture quality is so-so as I took it with my ipad outside in my screenhouse. I have to finish her hair towards the bottom, add a backround and throw in a little more color.

Thanks for stopping by to check it out.

Rob let me know what you think??
I am going to make this short and to the point. I lost 20 years in my life by not drawing. When I was growing up all I did was read comics and draw, hoping one day I was going to work at Marvel, LOL. As they say better late than never. I have been on dA for 8 years. Out of those 8 years I have been really active in the dA communtiy for 1.5 years. The amount of incredible and talented artists here in dA community is ridiculous!! To all you young artists out there I only have a few words for you.....Don't ever stop drawing and keep your imagination sharp. Art is a wonderful thing and it brings out the best in all of us! Well, thats all I have to say. Thanks for reading this and coming by. Take care!!

Here are some of my works.

Hello artists @ dA. My name is Joe and I am 39 years old. I recently started to draw again. I cannot believe I let all these years pass and I never continued to draw. Growing up I was a big fan of comic books and dabbling into a little graffiti. It is now 21 years later and I realized I missed it. So here I am slowly getting back into the swing of things to show off my skillz (not much but currently working on it).

Here are some of the things I am into and some things about me.
I am a huge fan of the X-Men, specifically Wolverine. He is the ultimate badass in the Marvel Universe. I am also a fan of Marvel comics in general. I like DC comics too but the only one I follow is Batman. The other genre of stuff I am into is Sci-Fi. In other words anything STAR WARS!!! LOL!! The Star Wars franchise is probably the best sci-fi franchise ever created. I am not knocking on "Trekies" but Star Wars is better.
I am also an avid (not as avid as I would like to be) gamer. My console of choice is a PS3. My PSN ID is the same: JCee911. I play a lot of Military FPS type games, IE: Call of Duty series, Medal of Honor. The other games I like to play are RPG games, Final Fanatasy and such. So if you are on the PSN network look me up, we can play a game or two.
The most important thing of all is I am the husband to a beautiful wife and I am the father of 3 beautiful girls. One of them actually loves to draw. If there is anything she inherited from her dad it would be art. If she sticks with this skill she will go far. Here is to hoping she does.

Here are the "tools of the trade" that I use.

Standard Graphite Pencils 9H-7B Faber Castell
Pentel Mechanical Graphite Pencils B, HB, 2B (looking for more grades)
Colored Pencils - Prismacolor Premier, Watercolor and Verithin
Famer Castell PITT Artists Ink Pens and Prismacolor Ink Pens (black 00.5, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 0.8, 2.0mm)
Copic Neutral Sketch Markers N0, N2, N4, N6, N8
Tortillians/Stumps/Chamois for blending
Kneaded eraser
Dustless eraser (have quite a few of these)
Staedler Stick eraser/Faber Castell pencil eraser
Canson Blackbook (8.5x11, 5.5x8.5)
Canson Bristol board (9x12 dual surface)
Canson sketchbook 9x12
Strathmore sketch and drawing book (9x12)
Strathmore Bristol (11x14)

Well thanks for reading and looking forward to seeing everyones work here on dA.

OK, so here is the final weight loss count after the 30 day diet plan. I lost a total of 23 pounds. I am very proud of myself for doing this and actually sticking with it for that long. I feel good and I fit into my clothes a lot better, LOL. Now the problem is keeping the weight off. I am from Italian descent so all we do is eat. This is going to be a challenge to use portion control but I know I can stick with it. The other thing I am sticking with and doing every day is drawing. I am drawing a few hours each day. Some days I am practicing and other days I am starting new pieces. The key thing is I am picking up a pencil and making the most of it. I am proud of the progress I am making. So I want to keep it going. The media I have been using more often is my Prismacolor Premier pencils. I am enjoying how these pencils work and the potential of these things are endless. Being an amateur myself I am learning new stuff with them all the time. I like the way they blend and how soft the pencils are. So hopefully I get better.

This weekend I am going to a place called the Hobby Lobby and it is not too far from my house. I am looking to pick up the Prismacolor Verithin and Watercolor pencil tins. I have two 40% off coupons. I will be going to one register with one set and my wife is going to another register with the other set as you are only allowed one coupon per customer, LOL. Here is where my feedback from you guys on dA comes into play. I am also looking into purchasing the Derwent Watercolor and Colorsoft pencil sets. My question is, Which one is better? Which one blends better? Which one is better quality? Which one is better to use as I am a newbie to them? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you if you do.

Last but not least are some of my shoutouts that I like to do here on dA. All of these artists do some great work and every single one of them has a unique style to their art. So here they are in no particular order.

Please go check out their pages. There is some great stuff to look at.

Here are two pages that I found some art supplies online. If anyone used these site please give us some feedback on them. If anyone has other sites please post them in the comments below.

Thanks for checking out my journal.

Have a good one!!
